S9, E3: The Big Dig

Commodore Carol Hogan orders Lieutenant Commander Dee Vox to prepare for a covert investigation involving the Bushido, her flagship.

Starfleet Intelligence has identified an ancient ruin within the Psi Velorum Sector Block, situated deep in Tal Shiar territory. Reports indicate that the Tal Shiar Romulans have taken a significant interest in this ancient temple.

In response, Starfleet dispatched the USS Phlox, under the command of Captain N'Verix, to investigate the situation. The Romulan Star Empire sought support from both the Klingons and the Federation for their research efforts. The Klingons declined, but the Federation agreed to assist.

Upon arrival, the crew discovered that the temple was not of Romulan origin and was impressively large. This revelation sparked the curiosity of the Federation, as well as that of the Romulan Star Empire, particularly the Tal Shiar.

Following this discovery, the Tal Shiar launched an invasion of the area, capturing 16 archaeologists and erecting 12 force shields around the temple to prevent anyone from entering or escaping.

Starfleet has ordered an immediate rescue operation for the archaeologists and has dispatched a Task Force to facilitate this mission. While Commodore Hogan requests Dee's participation in the Task Force, it is part of a larger strategy. Instead of collaborating with the invasion force, Dee and her team are tasked with covertly infiltrating the temple to uncover what the Tal Shiar are hiding.

Recognizing that Dee is not an infiltrator, Carol assigns Lieutenant Dragos as a mission advisor to her team. He will help prepare them for the critical task of entering the temple undetected.
