I won’t pretend the last forty‑eight hours have been easy. Overwhelmed barely begins to describe it. I understood the broad strokes of the role when I applied, but the full scope… that only truly landed once the orders came through. Even so, knowing what I know now, I would still have applied, though perhaps with a deeper breath before hitting “send.”

So here I am: the new Director of Research and Development for Valhalla Fleet Yards. An honour in itself. But paired with that is a responsibility I hadn’t expected to shoulder so soon, commanding the USS Bushido (fresh from a stunning refit) and overseeing the station that houses the entire R&D division for the fleet yards.

It feels unreal. A little daunting, yes, but the excitement outweighs the nerves. The possibilities ahead — for my team, for Valhalla Fleet Yards, and for Starfleet and the Federation, are immense. The Butterfly Effect in motion.

Our family quarters here are slightly larger than those on Starbase 400. Not by much, but enough that the main bedroom and lounge feel more open. Lara and Velo are thrilled with their room, especially the bunk beds and extra storage.

I also met someone who knew my previous host, Raekwon, an antiques dealer named John Eagle. I don’t recall him clearly, but as he pointed out, we both dealt with countless people in that line of work. I purchased a beautiful Vulcan sculpture from him for our quarters. Now that I’ve spent some time in the space, I’m considering placing it on the shelf behind my desk instead. I’ll decide once it arrives.

End log.
