Mission: VFY S1, E5: Del'a soran
Location: Port Royale, Various

It had been a long journey as she stretched her legs leaving the transport vessel. It had been interesting reading up on Port Royale and it's standard mission in regards to Cardassia and try to keep the peace At this moment in time she would just be happy to keep the station up and running. It had been a while since she'd worked with such a large staff on a 'project' such as Port Royale.

The promenade was bustling with activity, shops abuzz with life and commerce. The sounds of voices all overlapping made her smile. Her species were labelled as 'Listeners' and in truth she revelled in the sounds of others conversing, she'd always found it somewhat soothing.

Del knew she would have to report in as soon as she came aboard and had her belongings stowed somewhere until she found out what quarters she had been assigned. As she stepped out onto the Ops floor she smiled as she walked past other officers, some interested in someone knew, others going about their business as usual.

The Admiral's office was plain to see and she made her way there, pressing on the door chime as hundreds had no doubt done before her.

Domingo was trying to keep up with any reports coming in from Cardassia. The USS Pioneer was in orbit, and it was not the safest place for a Federation starship to be located, because of the civil unrest on Cardassia Prime. He had Commander Tias, keep track of ship movements, and pulling ships closer to Cardassia, that were in the area. "Enter," Domingo called out, from his desk.

Del entered with a little skip in her step, she'd always been quite light on her feet, and stood before the man that was now her superior. He was a handsome man of average build and from his look he was of Hispanic descent. She had made it a habit over the years to read up on the histories and variation in species of each Alpha/Beta Quadrant worlds.

"Lieutenant Delothian Miazami reporting for duty sir. Del'a soran." She said in El Aurian as a formal greeting.

"Good my new Corps of Engineering Director. You come highly recommended." Domingo said with a big grin on his face. He put down a couple of pads, and pulled up her service file, on his holographic display and made sure she could see it. "Two questions for you? Questions one, When can you start? And question two, tell me something that is not in this file about you?" He asked in nicely, but sounding a little desperate. There was a lot of work to be done. But he wanted to learn a little more about his new director.

"I'm sure my file is exaggerated sir, I just do my job like any engineer would." She replied in kind returning the kind smile she had received with a little bow of respect following. "As for starting... give me an hour to find where I'm staying and throw my bag through the door then I'm yours. For something not in my file..." Something she really had to think about, oddly enough not a question she was asked very often.

"I'm sure my file shows my El Aurian background, my civilian career as well as Starfleet?" She asked rhetorically. "Ok, I have had many loves in my life but never had love long enough to last." She said rather cryptically.

"I know that feeling to well." Domingo said, as he thought about Sarah Sanchez for a moment. He kept himself composed as he went on. "Everything you need, including your clearance levels is on this padd." Domingo said, as he grabbed a padd, that he had programed for her.

"Sucks doesn't it?" she asked rhetorically once again as she took the PADD. In most respects she still came across a bit childish but she was only in her 200's. Looking over the PADD she smiled, "Thank you Boss." She said with a little wink, "I look forward to keeping this fine lady in great shape, although she looks like she's in need of a spin class or something."

"It does indeed suck, but its the decision we made, so now we live with it." He said in response. Her comment sparked a little snicker from him. What she said was funny. "At some point today, I need you to look over the Tianlong, she just came to the station, and was badly mistreated, make sure she is fit for duty." Domingo asked her, in a polite tone, trying to redirect the conversation.

Del giggled a little at the comment of how they had to live with their decision to not pursue love. "That is the mindset of a short lived species, not that I hold it against you sir. I have many centuries still to come in which no doubt I'll be muddling through to have more men break this little heart of mine." For a moment she thought back to Kals, he last love with home she cut out of her life as she learnt he had been stealing from her.

Composing herself a little she looked back at the Admiral and let out a fake smile to show face, "I'll look at the Tianlong straight away sir. A cursory overlook at what needs to be done, assign my crews and work our magic and she'll be unrecognizable when we're finished."

"I believe the ship is okay, I just want you to give her a once over. There was a wild cartoon like character piloting her a little to roughly for my taste, rather be on the safe side and have your team give her a once over." Domingo said, he still wanted to track down Karen Khan, and make her pay for what she did. But the best thing he could do, was blacklist her company from working with his station, ever again.

"Cartoon?" she half asked cocking her head to the side before shaking off the question. "I'll giver her my utmost attention sir. As long as no more of your 'cartoons' take over..."

"It's a figure of speech, Lieutenant. Let's say Miss Khan was very flamboyant a little over the top, and should be arrested, but thinks she is above the law, because in her eyes, she is above the law." Domingo said, hoping he was explaining his meaning of the word cartoon, to his El-Aurian Engineer.

"Ah ok sir." Delothian replied shaking off the idea of a cartoon woman. "I get this general feeling that they are manic kind of people whom are exception to most natural laws." Her eyes drifted towards the door, she was eager to get her hands dirty with the Tianlong, as well as have a look around the station she now called home. "If that is all sir, I'd like to get started?" she asked.

"Dismissed Lieutenant, I hope you attend my party tonight, a message was sent to your quarters, review it when you have time. It was great to meet you." He said, with a grin on his face.

"A party?" she asked. "I'll need to find something to wear sir, but I'll try and be there. It was good to meet you too sir. May the Gods smile on your day." she finished and walked out his office to start her new role on Port Royale.
