Location: Port Royale, Airlock 5

Sarah made her way to the airlock, where she was expecting to meet Drax Ambassador Amelia Vieers. Sarah and Sebastian wanted to greet the new Ambassador at the airlock. Not much was known about the Drax, and this was a promising time for the Federation. "Ambassador Vieers, welcome to Port Royale." Sarah said with a big warm smile on her face, as she reached out to shake her hand.

Amelia smiled as she stepped through the airlock, truth be known she had a considerable headache thanks to the number of minds on the station but she smiled politely nonetheless. "It's nice to be here" She shook the hand being extended to her. "This is my daughter Leah" she motioned to Leah who nodded politely as she looked around.

"Pleasure to meet you both, this is Lieutenant Jones, one of the Diplomatic Officers assigned to this station." Sarah said, as she pointed to Sebastian. Sarah smiled, thinking to herself, this was a historic moment for the Federation. Getting a Drax Ambassador, was a big deal for her and the diplomatic community.

Sebastian offered each of the new arrivals a nod and a friendly smile. "Pleasure to meet you both."

Amelia nodded politely. " It's a pleasure. May I ask that Leah be shown to our quarters, it's been a long journey here and I think she'd appreciate the break from formalities."

Sarah handed a data pad to Amelia, on it was her credentials and other information she would need. "I would happy to walk you both to your quarters, allow you to get situated on the station. I wanted to take this opportunity to meet you, and say thank you, for agreeing to be representative of the Drax people. We know very little about your society." Sarah said, as she lead the way. She had already taken care of the room assignment.

“I will be more than happy to tell you anything you’d like to know about my people.” Amelia smiled warmly. “Don’t expect to be seeing many of them just yet though. I’m one of few Drax outside the system although there are a mere handful of Starfleet Officers who are either full or part Drax. Most of my people prefer to stay in the Drax system hopefully that’ll change in time.”

"They will always have a place in the Federation, so may I ask you question?" Sarah asked Amelia. She was curious to know why Amelia wanted to be a diplomatic ambassador.

"Of course" Amelia smiled warmly as she looked at Sarah. "You're curious about something?"

"A question I ask every Ambassador, why did you want to be a diplomat?" Sarah asked, as they continued to walk down the corridors, and into a turbolift. Sarah waited for everyone to get into the lift, before telling the lift where to take them.

“To be honest...” Amelia looked at Leah and smiled. “For those raised on Drax choices are made for you. Fortunately for me my abilities and the fact that I’m the daughter of a diplomat put me on this career path. I’ve raised Leah to have a free choice of what she wants to do with her life.”

Leah smiled but said very little she tended to stay quiet while her mother was talking. She was more fascinated by the station and tired from the journey.

"Daughter of a Diplomat, I can relate to that. My mother was also Governor and later Senator on Terra Nova 2. I know how you feel. I followed in her footsteps as well. Our parents can be great inspirations." Sarah said, as she looked over to Leah. "Your mother has given you the best gift a parent can bestow, the freedom to choose your own path, what inspires you Miss Leah Vieers?" Sarah asked, with curiosity in her voice.

"What inspires me?" Leah smiled as she looked at Sarah. "I've been talking to mum about the idea of applying for Starfleet Academy. I've taken a liking to Starships and the way they operate, I'd like to learn more and Starfleet seems to be the best way to do that."

Amelia smiled. "I'd like to arrange for Leah to do some training while we're here if that's possible?"

Sarah was a little hesitant to suggest this, but she took a deep breath as she looked to Leah. She did not want to upset the new Drax Ambassador. She was not sure if Amelia was really onboard with her daughter serving in Starfleet. But she did suggest for her daughter to get some training. "I can speak with the Command Staff about getting Leah, some cadet shadow training. This way she can see, if she wants a career in Starfleet. Assuming that's okay with you Ambassador." Said Sarah, as she looked over to Amelia, to see what she would say.

“That would be perfect, if it’s not too much trouble.” Amelia smiled warmly. “Please don’t assume you have to say yes simply because I’m an Ambassador.” She grinned.

"Trust me Ambassador, there will probably be times we disagree. I have had a few interesting conversations with the Cardassian Ambassador, trust me when I say, we don't always agree." Sarah said, as they continued down the corridor. They started to make their final walk to her residence.

“Well I’ll do my best not to be argumentative” Amelia grinned. “I’m not the argumentative type but I do stand up for what I believe in.”

Sarah lead them to their doorway. "Here we are Ambassador." She said, as she pointed to the door. She was hoped Amelia did not think she was combative, just because of the Cardassian Ambassador. She thought she handled herself with Ambassador Gumar, by the book and by the numbers.

"Thank you for the guiding us here it's much appreciated. It's been a long journey here so I'd like to get settled in and have a rest before doing anything else." She smiled. "I'd like to arrange to meet the other Ambassadors at some point, there's no immediate rush though."

"I will see to it, before I go. The Commanding Officer of this station is having a promotion party, we would love it, if you could attend tonight? Both of you are welcome to attend." Sarah asked, almost forgetting to ask. She was so caught up, with walking the Ambassador home. She almost forgot to do, what she came down here to do.

"We..." Amelia looked at Leah waiting for a nod or head shake before continuing. "We would both be happy to attend, I'll look forward to meeting your Commanding Officer. Is there anything in particular he likes that I could bring as a gift?"

"Dom?" She said out loud. She paused for a moment, and then went on to say. "He likes hard ciders. He's not really a wine, beer or hard alcohol type of guy. However he does like the hard ciders." Sarah said, as she remembered, how much he loves hard ciders.

Amelia smiled warmly. “Then Cider it will be, Thank you. If I may ask are the two of you good friends? It’s rare to hear a commanding officer called by his name rather than his rank.”

"We grew up together." Sarah said, with a grin on her face. "Yes we are friends, but that's it. Friends." Sarah said, rather quickly. She did not want to mention her divorce, to the senator who betrayed the Federation. She was trying to cope with that, but did not want to talk about it with anyone. Including Dom.

“Ah I see!” Amelia grinned and gave Sarah a curious look. She could sense she was holding something back but didn’t want to pry as to what it was. “Friendship is important, if you should ever feel the need to speak with someone about anything then please feel free to come and see me. It would be nice to have a friend here.”

"I'll take you up on that, Later tonight, I will introduce you to Dom." Sarah said with a big grin on her face. She liked the idea of making a new friend, that did not want to get down her pants.

“Excellent!” Amelia grinned. “I’ll look forward to it.”

"I'll see you tonight, I will forward the details to you." Sarah said, as she got ready to leave the room. She bowed in a sign of respect, as she left the room.

Amelia watched Sarah go before turning to look at Leah. "Shall we go see our rooms?" With that they both laughed and ran off to their bedrooms like two children having fun in a candy shop. One thing was for certain it was going to be an interesting new start aboard the station.
