Timeline: January 17, 2397, 0900 Hrs
Sarah was still trying to adapt to new position. This was a big change, from the past ten years of service. She was not sure, she truly deserve the promotion, but Dom said she was, and she did pass the bridge officer's exam. Sarah was still unpacking, when she heard a beep at her door. "Come in Dom." She said, expecting Dom was checking in on her again. He was a close friend of hers.
She thought he was a little over protective. All she needed was time and space, to get over the betrayal of her husband. Paul really hurt the senate, and the sad part was, Sarah had no idea what he really gained from it. There was no money, no power, what was it all for? She had no idea, part of her wanted to know, but another part of her said no. Leave the past in the past.
The door to Commander Sanchez's office slid back, and K'Taal entered. "Commander Sanchez?" she asked, more wishing to verify that the woman before her was the one she needed to speak with.
Sarah was a little surprised to see a Klingon in a Starfleet Uniform. She knew there were a few in Starfleet, but she had no idea, that one of them were coming to Starbase Port Royale. "How can I help you, Lieutenant?" Sarah asked, noticing she was in a gold uniform. She wondered what field she served in.
K'Taal gave the other woman a smile. "Assistant Chief of Security K'Taal... May I come in?"
"Please by all means come in." She said as she motioned with her hand for K'Taal to enter the room. She motioned for the couch, for them to sit and talk. "Can I get you a beverage?" Sarah asked, trying to be polite to her guest. She was curious to learn more about the security officer.
"I don't think I'll be here long enough, but when you're free, I'll be glad to get a drink with you..." The Klingon sat. "I'm the Assistant Chief of Security--I felt it prudent that we meet to discuss the basics of security for diplomatic functions aboard this station, and to start to develop a good working relationship. You'll meet the head of security later; I volunteered to meet with you in her stead."
"Very well, lets hear what suggestions you have then, Lieutenant." Said Sarah with a warm smile. She sat up all proper, and crossed her legs towards her. Sarah was trying to show K'Taal that she was comfortable and open to any ideas that security might have.
"For one, I suggest that two guards be discretely posted outside whatever room or rooms might be needed for diplomatic guests, functions, etc. I also recommend that such diplomatic guests go through genetic sampling, both for security and medical purposes... Is that too honourous?"
"You want to add two personal security officers, on top of the marine detachment? I heard from the Commodore, that you will be supervising the marines, every step of the way." She pointed out to K'Taal. She wondered if those officers, were going to be supervisors or personal guards?
The Klingon held up a placating hand. "Forgive me--I was under the impression that the marine detachment would be for general security. I am certainly willing to have those guards come from the marines. I want a good working relationship here; I meant no insult. The guards would only be to ensure that no unauthorized persons, military or civilian, gain access to potentially sensitive areas."
"I see, and who would provide extra security, for some of our more challenging ambassadors aboard this station? The Marines or your own security teams?" Sarah asked? She was mainly referring to the Cardassian Delegation, that had arrived already on the station, but was resting now in his quarters. Sarah had no doubt, several ambassadors, would not loose any sleep, if he wound up dead.
"Which would make you more comfortable, Commander? I have my preference--I would prefer Starfleet personnel handle extra security--but if you would prefer the marines, I can bring it up with Lieutenant Commander T'Rhe."
"They are a resource, the Commodore will tell you this, it was him that suggested utilizing them, to assist and augment your forces. Sounds like this station, will be almost like the wild frontier, and we need to make sure security's presence is felt, and not suffocating the station. Dividing up the tasks, should be able to help. I have no preference, to answer your question. Just carrying out the Commodore's order." Sarah said with a smile on her face. She was being honest. She had no preference.
"Starfleet it is... I'll tell them to remain inconspicuous, and I'll let you know as soon as I have a leader for the team... Is there anything else?"
"No, but I want you to over see them, they might be helping Lieutenant, but Security handles all security operations in my book." Sarah said, as the scene starts to fade.
