Act 4: Am I Ready

Location: Port Royale, Avril Taylor's Quarters
Timeline: January 17, 2397, 2015 Hrs

Alex and Avril were cuddling up on the sofa, watching and old flick on the main viewer. Avril reached in and wrapped her arms around him. "I am grateful you transferred with me." She said, wondering how much he gave up, to give their newly found relationship a chance to grow.

"I can be an Engineer on a ship, or in a fleet yards. You're not interchangeable." He said, as he gave her a small kiss on the forehead, and continued to hold her close.

"Thanks." Avril simply said, as she appreciated the warm brace of his lips on her forward. He was such a sweetheart. She could not believe how fast she was falling for him. It was a little scary, but in a good way.

"I'm very content being Chief Engineer of the Tianjin and helping out on the station. Not interested in promotion to first officer or Captain. That can your part in our relationship?" Alex said with a big smile.

Avril smiled as she looked up to him. "Oh really." She said in a teasing manner. She reached up to plant a kiss on his lips. The kiss was small, but it was filled with sincerity and passion. She was starting to fall for him, and this was scary for her. They barely knew each other. She knew she needed to cool her jets, and focus on getting to know him better.

Alex could see in her eyes, that she had feelings for him. Alex had feelings for her as well, they were growing stronger by the day. It was strong enough, that he transferred off the Shanghai, with Avril, to keep their relationship going. That should show her, he was committed too.

"You are the first officer, of the Shanghai, and I am okay with that." Alex said, as he looked at her green eyes, trying to show he was okay with her promotion. He was an engineer, he only wanted to be close to Avril and his engine.

"I was surprised that I was chosen for a first officer position, it almost seems unreal, like I am living in a dream." She said to him, with a soft voice. She was still coming to terms with the promotion.

"You're going to be a great first officer, I remembered going to the bridge several separate occasions, and seeing how well you did as bridge duty officer. This is a great opportunity, and you will succeed at it, and if you think its to soon, you still have your primary duty to fulfill on the station. That is no small task either." Alex said, thinking to himself, his poor girlfriends job sucked. But she was good at it, and seemed to like it.

"Thanks." Avril said, as they continued to lay on the couch, snuggling and watching a movie, she was feeling a little better about her new promotion to first officer and chief flight operations officer. It was nice to hear Alex, having faith in her. And then telling her why, with good examples.
