Location: Starbase Port Royale, CO Ready Room
Once her meeting with Captain Prenar was done, for which Holle was grateful, she headed to the Operations center of the starbase and stopped a Yeoman. "Excuse me," she said. "Could you tell me where to find Commodore Martinez?" she asked as she carried her carryall and the long tube with her.
The Yeoman simply smiled as she asked Commander Tias to follow her. She walked her over to the Admiral's office. Domingo was about to walk out the door, and find his Yeoman. "Perfect, you found her. Come in Commander." Domingo said, as he walked over to the replicator. "Please have a seat. Can I offer you a drink?" He asked, not sure if she was thirsty. But it had been a long day, and he could really use a cup of coffee with 2 Irish coffee creamers in it. "Please skip the formality, we have a lot to talk about." Domingo said, as he waited for Holle to respond to his initial question.
"No, thank you, Commodore," Holle said as she followed him back into the office and set her carryall down but rested the long tube across her lap. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
"You as well, that was one hell of entrance, Commander." Domingo said with a grin on his face, as he took a sip of his coffee, and then took a seat himself. He was still trying to figure out why Starfleet was sending him a carrier to join his task force. But that inquiry would have to wait.
"You should have been along for the ride," the Trill woman said before she reached into her carryall and retrieved a PADD to hand to him. "My orders, Sir."
"Have a seat Commander." Domingo said, as he took the data pad and glanced over at her orders. "You understand your role here, you are not just a strategic operations officer for my station?" He said, hoping that Starfleet fully briefed her, on the differences between being a station/ship strategic operations officer, and one for the fleet.
Holle paused to wonder if the weight of pips on flag officers dragged their IQ lower but kept a neutral face. "Yes, Sir," she said. "I'm aware that I'm going to be in charge of fleetwide operations for Port Royale and associated ships, Commodore."
Domingo thought to himself, that her attitude was a little snarky, but in a professional manner. "Sorry about that Commander, Starfleet does not always choose the brightest tools in the shed. I am happy to see that you are not the average run of the mill starfleet officer. I appreciate that, I appreciate the sense of humor as well." Domingo said with a big grin on his face.
"I need the best working for me, and looking at your file, I believe you will fit that profile nicely. I need to know what ships do we have near the Septimus System. Starfleet Intelligence suggests there is a build up of Dominion Forces in the area, they are calling themselves the True Way Alliance." Said Domingo, they barely shared that information with the Federation. He wanted to know what was going on in that area. Ambassador Gumar, suggested they also look in that area. They said the civil war with their government, started in that system. Now they were at Cardassia.
"I'll get right on that after I settle into my quarters, Commodore," she said. "I've some contacts that I can call on if official contacts don't work." Of course, not all of those contacts would be approved by the Federation, but they weren't enemies of the Federation.
Domingo handed her a pad, on it was transfer approval, permission updates and of course her room assignment. As he handed her the pad, he went on to say. "We will not get involved in the affairs of a civil war, but it never hurts to see what side is going to win this conflict. The USS Pioneer, has been sent to Cardassia to provide humanitarian aid to Cardassia. Officially they are there to assist either side of the civil war, and offer their services as peacekeepers. But I need to know ship placements in the Septimus system, are they planning a second wave, or they fortifying their position in that system?" Domingo said really pressing his agenda to Holle.
Holle accepted the PADD and gave a nod. "Understood, Commodore," she said as she looked over the information on the information on it. "I'll get right on it."
"Appreciate that, sorry to put you to work so soon. But we have a lot to do in a short amount of time." Domingo said, knowing most of his career experience, showed him that you had a week or two to acclimate. He was only given Holle a few hours. He felt bad, but the stakes were high.
"Does this mean I get a complimentary bottle of Bloodwine, circa 2309?" she asked with a twinkle in her eyes.
"I'll talk to my contacts within the Klingon Empire, for now though I do have a bottle of Saurian Brandy for you circa 2315 for you, consider it a down payment." Said Domingo. He had a small collection of the spirits. Which was only collecting dust in his personal storage center. Domingo did not drink. His drug of choice was coffee. But that never stopped him from receiving gifts during his career.
"Sold," the Trill woman said.
"I'll have the bottle delivered to your quarters tonight, do you have any further questions for me, Commander?" Domingo asked, wanting her to settle in, so she could can start her duties, as soon as possible.
"No, Sir," Holle replied and waited to be dismissed.
"Dismissed." Simply said Domingo, thinking to himself. How in the hell did you stop yourself from hitting on her. Wow, she was hot. He could only imagine how many times she got hit on, and what type of distraction that must be for her. He watched her leave the room, as the scene fades.
