Mission: VFY S9, E1: We Have A Home
Location: Starbase Taneran, Mess Hall

Location: Starbase Taneran, Mess Hall

"You do have the option of using the Captain's mess attached to the mess hall." Jaxon pointed out to her. It was an area of space attached to the mess hall so the Captain of the station can host private parties for her either her family or for political meetings. It was dinner time, and the family was in the main dining hall.

Dee followed Jaxon’s gesture and let out a soft “Oh,” the corner of her mouth lifting.

“I suppose I’ll use it for private events, station matters, family business, all of it. I’m still getting used to the idea of being the commander of my own station, let alone my own ship. It’s quite a leap forward. Honestly, it feels less like a step and more like a warp jump.”

She glanced back at him, studying his expression.

“How are you coping with all this? You seem to be handling it well. But you can tell me if anything’s weighing on you. Truly.”

"I'm coping just fine, I wish I had my new assignment. But Admiral Martinez assures me that she's going to get to me today." Jaxon said with a warm smile on his face. He was still waiting for his assignment on VFY.

"Oh, I would have thought you would have it by now. If they are in the process of sorting it, then all is good. How do you think our children are handling it all? They seem unfazed by it."

"They keep asking me when they can come aboard my new ship, and I have to remind them daily that I don't have a ship yet and that we have to be patient. We have just been trying to keep them from you because we didn't want to stress you over it. I'll have my meeting with the Admiral before too long." Jaxon said, trying to be positive and not stress out his wife over this information.

"I appreciate that. I have had a fair amount on my plate recently, but I do need to spend time with our children. I can not neglect my primary responsibilities to you and them. " Dee commented.

"That's why we're a team my love. We're there for each other." Jaxon pointed out to her as he gently brushed her hair, as he looked into her eyes. He didn't care who on the station was looking at them, they're in the messhall but this was their moment.

" I am so lucky to have found you, my love." She replied holding his hand across the table, gazing lovingly into his eyes.

"I never get tired of you saying that." Jaxon openly admitted to her, as he gently stretch your hand while still maintaining eye contact. But then the moment was ruined. All of a sudden too little feet or trolloping across the mess hall. The young children were now out of school, tickets next to them. Jaxon smiled as you look at their young ones.

"Looks like school's over for today." Dee remarked as their two children were stood either side of the table.

"Well sit down." Jaxon insisted the two young ones. He nodded at Dee, when she referenced that school was now over. "How was school?" He asked, waiting for them to respond.

"We made some new friends," Velo replied. "Yeah", Lara added.

"Oh, that's great. On your first day of a new school as well." Dee replied. "Don't you think so Jax?"

"That's wonderful, are you kids going to be happy living here with Mom. I'm going to be here most time, but once in awhile I'm going to have to go out once I get my new ship assignment." Jax said, as he looked to Lara.

"Will you get to come home to us, Daddy?" Lara asked.

"Always. There's no other place, I want to be." Jax said with the loving smile, he noticed Dee coming up behind him. He wrapped his arm around her waist, and a loving manner. He held her close, as he continued to talk to their daughter.

Dee put her arm around him. He was such a good father to their children. " Mummy will do her very best to be always here for both of you. " Dee added. " But you know what our jobs are like and there are always times where things might be difficult, but we will get through it as we always do, as a family. " She looked at her two beautiful children, smiling at her and Jaxon. She smiled at him, and for a few seconds, pondered the idea of having a third child but then the reality of their new circumstances kicked in sharp and she dismissed it for now.

"We are a family, nothing is going to change that." Jaxon said with a warm smile on his face, as he reached down to hug both of his children. He could see the sadness in their eyes. "I'm not leaving today guys. I still have to meet the Admiral."

" Yes you do. Sooner the better so you can find out what you will be doing. In the meantime let's make the most of our family time. "

"That's what matters right now, it's what matters period." Jaxon said with a big grin on his face. "The four of us together can do anything."

The four soon left their quarters to explore the facilities of the Starbase and see what fun and entertainment they could find.

"You seem like you have something on your mind, I can tell that it's bothering you. You might be able to hide it from the others you can't hide it from me." Jaxon said as I started to walk out of the quarters. He was curious if she'd want to talk about it now or if she'd want to talk about it later.

" You're so perceptive. I recently had a chat with a counsellor about things and something I have tried to forget, from my past, before us, came back to the surface and now it's bobbing around on the surface of my mind. I know, deep down, I should tell you about it but I'm honestly worried how you will react. " Dee responded.

"We all have a past, and that past will mold us into who we are today. Without that past you wouldn't be the person you are today. Now with that said I'll try to keep an open mind to whatever it is, but I also understand that you wouldn't be the person you are right now if you hadn't gone through that." Jaxon said, not sure what to say. He hope to have something to do with one of her previous hosts. Or maybe something new with your childhood and not something to do with their relationship.

She listened to her husband. She couldn't fault anything he said and was somehow more reassured that telling him was the right thing to do and everything would be ok.

"You know, your absolutely right. Let's discuss it when the kids have gone to bed, I don't think it's for their ears."

"Okay, probably a good idea." Jaxon said, as they continue to play with the kids for a while.
