Deezell stepped out of the turbolift onto the bridge of the Bushido. The room was abuzz with activity, a mix of bridge officers, engineers, and technicians all trying to get work done, carefully dodging one another as they moved about.

Someone obviously noticed Dee arriving as a voice piped up, "Captain on the bridge!"

At once, everyone stopped, spun around to locate her, and came to attention.

"As you were. Ignore me for now," Dee replied. The brief silence ended, and the buzz of activity returned to its chaotic rhythm.

Dee approached the engineering station where Nadin Bellur sat, his fingers tapping furiously on the console. He paused, turning toward her.

"Captain, I have managed to enhance our warp and impulse systems slightly in terms of efficiency and response times. The Bushido is an older class of ship than the current models, so there were some limitations as to what I could realistically do," Nadin explained.

"Not a problem, Lieutenant. Anything, and I mean that quite literally, that you can do to give us the slightest tactical advantage is greatly appreciated," Dee replied, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"With the increased efficiency of the warp engines, I have managed to channel a little more power to the shields. In theory, they should last a little longer during a sustained bombardment," Nadin advised.

"Good. I have also managed to arrange a shipment of new shield emitters, not just for the Bushido, but for other fleet vessels that could use the upgrade. When they arrive, I will have them fitted and then see what effect your warp efficiency improvements have on them."

"Depending on the type of emitters, we could see anywhere from a 5% to a 10% improvement. We'll have to find out when they arrive and are fitted," Nadin replied. "I don't suppose you know the model number off the top of your head?" he added.

Dee pulled out a small padd and scrolled for a few seconds. "SE3/135-T."

"Oh, not the latest, as those are restricted to new ship builds, but it's the model right before that—a considerable upgrade for a Sabre-class, that's for sure," Nadin commented.

"Indeed. The Commodore wants this done well, and I intend to make sure of it. She headhunted me for this role, so I have to ensure I'm worth the effort she put in," Dee said.

"I will do my best for you, of course, as will my team," Nadin assured her.

"That, Lieutenant, I am confident of."

Dee turned and left the bridge, stepping back into the turbolift and setting a course for main engineering.
